Hi,

I'm really worried about one of the four chicks I recently got. This is my first time rearing chickens so would appreciate any help!
I have researched coccidiosis but have seen that it mainly occurs with other symptoms such as drowsiness, paleness and a generally unhappy and ill looking chicken. My little chick looks rather happy and content and is very much enjoying eating and drinking, however there is a "medium" amount of blood in her droppings, which are sometimes firm and sometimes a little runny. Should I medicate all chickens against coccidiosis with coxiod? or just put it down to stress, I am at a bit of a loss as the blooming droppings occurred yesterday evening and I aware that coccidiosis can cause mortality very quickly in young chicks, so I am extremely worried!

There is usually an anti-coccidistat in chick crumbs. I don't know how helpful it is. Good luck

Very often chicks poo has blood in it. Check around the vent to see if there is a 'crust' of old poo....if there is pick it off....it won't like it but it's necessary to get it removed.
