So me thinks I will get a few more pots going and pop them between me toms inth greenhouse.

Glad your basil wasn't fawlty!
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Good bloke work.

Scratching around for herbs to sow in my greenhouse in January this year I found a long lost packet of chives.  The stamp on the back said Packed Jan 2007 best before Jan 2009.

They took a while to come through because of the sub zero temperature outside but I'd say it looked like all of them came up.  Best before 2009 Mr Fothergill?  I'll be the judge of that.  I've now split the pot and planted them in the herb patch.  They are doing just fine.

Birdseye Lasagne that has been in permafrost at the back of the freezer and only discovered when defrosting also tastes just fine.  I don't even remember buying that.  I'm not so brave to disregard the use by dates on eggs again!
