Enthusiastic Beginners!!

Greetings!!

Just wanted to say great site - I have the feeling I will be returning again and again for advise on these pages!

Me, my fiance Charlotte, and our 5 year old daughter Alexandria have managed to rent a plot about 5 minutes from our house. We have been supremely lucky in that it was nearly free of weeds, and had been manured just before we took it over!! Lucky or what!!

We took it on in April, and we have a nice crop of spuds, onions, french beans, kidney beans, a pumpkin, and various salad stuff all growing well. The lovely thing is tha tthe only plants we have bought ourselves have been radishes and lettuce - everything else has been donated by our great allotmenteer neighbours!!

We both work, and it is lovely to go up to the plot in the evenin with our watering cans - you just feel the stress slip away . . . . .  :D

Its great isn't it. I found the same. I even like weeding. The really bad day at work pales into insignificance when you're trying to get a well rooted weed from between two pea plants, nothing is more important than the job in hand.

Love the nature too, even if some of it does eat my stuff.
first there is a mountain then there is no mountain then there is

Ok was exagerating a bit

Its one of those tasks I never want to do but enjoy once I start. Like going walking or swimming. Or just general exercisey things.

OKay, I'll explain before anyone tells me off!!!

First of all, we spend all year, planning, digging, weeding and watering, trying to get stuff to grow.  Why don't we forget about all those vegetables and just eat all the weeds????  Would make life SO much easier!!!!!
