I'm growing black beauty ... pretty much did what mum said, threw them in some lil pots of moist ... probably wet ... compost, slapped them in a warm place and forgot about them. Since they germinated they've been kept in as much light as possible and are now almost 10mm high :D ... just kidding, they're about an inch high ;)

Managed to grow them oop norf last year, in a greenhouse, so you should have no worries ... watch out though, they're spiky bu**ers!

I'm growing 'Calliope', stripey ones with no spines, they did well last year. I did plant one out but not until mid summer when it was warm. I started chitting 21st Feb and they are now about 6" tall with half a dozen leaves and look like they are just about ready start bushing out. They are much slower to get started than the peppers/toms I did at the same time.

Last year I started 5/3 and picked the first one 22/6 (still inside).

You seem to have incredibly low windowledges Mum!  ::)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Mine have got proper big leaves now, and are much more healthy looking.

When are you going to pot these on, Mumofstig?

That's the final size pot......what Wilko describe as a tomato pot. They are wider than a flower bucket, but not as tall. Should be ok on same feeding as toms once I start  :D

I left mine outside the last few days but close to the brick wall in a sheltered corner thinking they'd be okay. Had a look today and they're all but laying down on strike. Gave them a watering anyway and tonight they're coming in. They really are tropical fusspots.

I think im going to have to be the bee for the cumbers as they have flowers on  :D

Outdoor Cues presumably? (Indoor ones should be female flowers only and no pollination).  I'm sure I'm doing a Granny+Sucking-Eggs thing here though!!
