Cabbages and pigeons
« on: May 09, 2010, 08:47 »
Hi - new to the forum - am growing veg in my back garden - have done for a few years but bigger scale this year with 4 raised beds and other areas. Had planted cabbages, broccoli and sprouts as plants and they were doing great only I didnt get around to netting them - (have 4 children and hectic life :)) and the pigeons have had a feast - have netted the other brassicas I had planted as seeds and they seem fine. My question is should I pull up what is left of these brasicas and use the space or will the stems and tatty leaves (not much left) pick up if I now net them?

also find netting a real bother when trying to keep the weeds down - did buy a big net cage from Harrods to use on one rasied bed but it was then difficult to water and so windy on my site it kept taking off - any easy solutions?

thanks for any advice :)

Welcome to the forums.

If the central growing tip of the plants are still intact, they should recover. If, they've gone - they've had it!

I don't do raised beds, so I'll let someone else answer that bit.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
