No, it's just right (sow indoors and plant out towards the end of May where you are.)  :)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Excellent . Thanks! Didnt want to miss out on them. When I plant out would they do well in a grow bag or do they need to go into the ground . Thanks.

As JayG says there is plenty of time to sow courgettes probably into early June. If you had plants now they wouldn't grow much as they hate the chilly weather. Sow them inside in a warm place potting them on as they grow and plant them out in late May or preferably early June. They can be grown in large pots but need plenty of manure / food. They can suffer mildew later in life especially if its damp so try to avoid watering the leaves.

They are OK in grow bags but go for the larger bags with a maximum of 2 plants per bag.

can anyone help please, my courgettes are growing fine with about 6-8 leaves i have them in the greenhose but shaded from strong sunlight, but the leaves look as though they are burned and blotchy , is it because i have started them too early and the weather has been too cold?  thank you  :( :( :(

Did you wet the leaves when you watered them?  If so it's most likely sun scorch.

Sounds good to me... nearly everyone who grows them seems to end up with more than they can use at some point.

I'm growing yellow and green fruit varieties... yellows are up but still with seed leaves.
Might sow a couple more later on in the hope of extending the season.... no rush. ::)

to be honest my BH and me dont even like courgettes, but its a good feeling when you have grown succesfully and can give them away to family, friends and neibours, i grew loads last year and got a lot of pleasure from giving them away.  ::) ::) ::)
