Morell mushrooms
« on: May 03, 2010, 23:43 »
So I've found some Morell mushrooms on my plot.  So far only four, but they are growing here.

Let's get past fungus identification and the dangers of eating unidentified fungus.  I've got that bit covered, and I have no intention of even disturbing them until I've had them properly identified.

They are growing on some old B&Q bark chippings that I had mulching last season's butter nut squash.  They are in a cool shady area of my plot under some of my raised beds.  See my blog link on my signature for pictures.

Has any one had any experience of this happening on their plot or garden?  Now that I've got them how do I keep them?

Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

leave them well alone they started off by themselves and they should carry on that way try not to disturb the mulch that they are growing in as the root system will be spread right through it one thing you could try to see if this is true or they are verry localised is tocover part of the mulch with a thin layer of compost for a few days then removeing it there will be a furrw stringgy mould like stuff spread thrugh it if they have spread
hope this helps
