I think you're supposed to chop off the flower heads as they take energy from the plant. You can divide the plant at the crown to get new ones but this isn't a good time of year to be doing that, or moving it. Ideally wait until the plant has died back if you can.
The less time you have, the more becomes available.

Cissie.  1, it`s not worth the time or effort to grow rhubarb from seed. 2, as long as it`s in a pot you can plant it at any time of year, as long as the ground isn`t frozen or waterlogged. So get it in now. :D

I was sorely tempted to buy some rhubarb seeds to try recently. For two years running I have bought plants and both have died! I don't think my rhubarb patch likes being where I wanted it to go so was going to start again somwhere a bit shadier.

Would I be better trying again with a plant rather than seeds? I was hoping seeds might provide enough for a crumble more quickly than buying a plant again.

It wouldn't be quicker.....you sow them in spring and grow them on and plant them, then the next year you shouldn't pick them, so it is not until the third year that you get a crop :(

It does work out cheaper though for anybody that wants to grow a lot of plants
