My broody pekin has been sitting for a week now is this the time to candle the eggs? Will a torch be ok and is it best done in a darken room?
I have two other hen who are broody now  :wacko: fighting a battle of regular eviction with them I don't want more broodies!! >:(

Before i brought my candler, i had an old lamp with a 60 watt bulb in, i then got a piece of cardboard cut a hole about the size of a 10 pence piece in it and then held the eggs on that worked a treat.
I normally candle mine at about 7-10 days as you can usually tell by then, and yes it is better if you can do it when its dark.
Dont count ya chickens till they hatch!!!!!
