Asparagus

Hi, planted some Asparagus a few weeks ago but it just looks like some dead twigs, will it come back form this or should I did up. I have attached a photo but it is not very clear

the asparagus looks fine,but me thinks you need a new camera lol.

the roots look exposed. get them covered up and give it a good watering.

I agree with Solway Cropper - your roots look exposed -  I would earth up. We planted ours about 4 weeks ago - looking very pathetic & inedible, but still distinctly asparagus like. it's been very dry lately - have you been watering them?

Edit: (excuse the poor quality photo - it's very hard to focus on something so insubstantial).

I just planted 1 year old crowns and they look pretty much like that but about half had one obvious white stem.  2 days in the ground after a good soaking and they have turned green and grown an inch already.  Give it a week and see if anything happens.

As has already been said.  Only the very top white tip (if any) should be showing.  If there isn't one.  Just put the whole thing under the earth except only a thin layer at the tip.

I'm no expert but that's what I've done.

My 1-year-old seedlings, planted out from pots last week, look a lot more established than these 1-year-old crowns - which I hope this means that they will be ready for cropping as-early-as (or maximally-rigorously :) )
