Last year I had some current bushes that really suffered with aphids, with one bush in particular looking very unhealthy. The only action I took was to mulch around the bush and give it some blood , fish & bone   . This year its looking extremely healthy and had 5 ladybirds on it petrolling this morning!  Also having stinging nettles near by is very beneficial as it increases the aphid numbers which in turn increase the ladybird population.. Furthermore the nettle aphids don't seem to like the current bushes which is a bonus . The ladybird population is booming.

I thought that I'd be clever and move some ladybirds onto the rose on the house wall.
They were obviously not to their taste as they flew off again ........so I might have to spray the rose before the greenfly start coming indoors with every visitor

I've noticed ladybirds on my currant bushes too!
