At times it can feel so, but right now the sun is shining and daffodils and camellia's are in full bloom.

Life is good in the garden :)

We probably are though I'm pretty blessed with my garden situation.

Courgettes are in, as is the first of the cauliflower and cabbage. Early potatoes are showing through very well....It a learning experience, but I'm game.

The year round concept of gardening here is something I haven't experienced before.

Bob
sounds a great idea,  especialy if you can predict those two days of summer that we'll get in the North East - or did we just have it on Saturday and Sunday?

I've found one site http://www.gardenaction.co.uk/ which you can go on and then click on weather settings.  This will give you your frost dates, including Cumbria :D

According to that website, Penzance doesn't exist - or for that matter anywhere in Cornwall! I'm guessing the cold, crunchy white stuff we had in Jan and Feb wasn't frost - I must have been mistaken!!  ::)

No two gardens are the same. No two days are the same in one garden.

Thank you so much for the link..its bookmarked, but I have a question.

I'm in the Seascale are of Cumbria...what city would I use as a point of context for the frost warnings? The closest area this ex-pat is finding is the Isle of Man.

Babstreefern:

There has to be some local weather service around here. Heaven knows there is enough farming.

Though thank you again for the website. I'm exploring now.

Hiya,

Slight weather geek, both parents are ex Met Office so brought up knowing how thunderstorms working from age 4!

Dad and I use the Met Office Website, and go to the Invent section, URL http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/pws/invent/

We look at the weather maps section. Bear in mind this is a bit of a try it / test area for the Met Office trying new stuff / ways of presenting info and not all areas are covered.
Worth a look though.

Enjoy!  :D
