container growing & seaweed

hi all
I've not been on site for a while as due to my ongoing health problems, I've decided to grow everything possible in containers & not in the ground. Would it be possible to grow a sprout plant in a tub? There's only me who likes them lol!
2ndly, I've painted a broad band of petroleum jelly around each container to deter slugs & snails, they can't slither over it or they don't like it apparantley, here's hoping.
Now the seaweed, as it's salty, slugs & snails don't like it, has anyone tried spreading it around their plot & if so, did it work?

thats what i got where my spuds are planted just let it dry a little then rotorvated in planted spuds hope to have ready salted spuds .lot of peeps over here use it for the land just let it dry a bit and dig it in good for the compost as well
