1st year Comfrey
« on: April 25, 2010, 08:08 »
Planted comfrey last Autumn and it's just starting to flower.

Should I take a cut now, or none until next year?

When I do cut,;John's book mentions cut the leaves 6 inches from ground. I assume you just cut the stem and not just the leaves?

I do have Nettle tea on the go anyway in an old dustbin.  Other plotholders  asked me why was I trimming the site's huge patch? Received some strange looks when I said it makes a good feed.

Knowledge is king. lol
Top tip for camping....don't go.

Hi there i planted my comfrey last spring and took no cuts last year, i'll take a couple of cuts this year, then after that as and when needed, The people on my site cut stalks and all but leave them to dry for a couple days before they use them as a mulch, no one makes comfrey tea with them as it smell's like an open sewer, so i have been told.
