Strong tools
« on: April 21, 2010, 16:49 »
I am fed up with bending trowels. Why is it that tools don't seem to be made to do a job any more?

So my question is what brand do we think are the best constructed to withstand actual use in the garden? I am interested in value for money, but my emphasis is very much on the value, not the money. Its simply not worth buying cheap if it doesn't do the job.

Suggestions please.

If you want to be happy for a short time - get drunk.

If you want to be happy for a long time - fall in love.

If you want to be happy forever - take up gardening!

Really cheap tools aren't worth the hassle, I've got some Wilkinson Sword kit and can't fault it.

I've also found it best not to abuse them  :D I use border size tools so that I don't overload them and put too much strain on joints. I've also bought a mattock for breaking hard ground so the spade isn't doing anything too stressful.

How did you bend a hand trowel?

I don't think there is consistant quality in many brands today! The Wife snapped one of the prongs on a Wilkinson sword SS border fork last week and last year the same brand of fork,a prong twisted right round

I am the incredible hulk wearing a poor disguise. I can bend most things actually.

25 year guarantee

That sounds worth having.
