Already got salad leaves growing in two places at different rates, OH doesn't like beetroot (or even the smell of it cooking) so that is out. However, although I do have a row of carrots which are up and looking good I have just read on another post that June is a good time to sow carrots again as they will avoid the dreaded carrot fly, so maybe that is an option. So far (fingers crossed) we have missed it but they are in a raised bed which is about 1 1/2 - 2 feet high. Thanks for that!

Would have done the same, only at that time I didn't have anywhere to plant them out when they would have been ready. My space has only just become available - anyway, I have planted carrots there now, and stuck some more dwarf beans in too.  :D

My parsnips look lovely.... still in the packet! So much easier to weed and water
