Peas.. hope im not too late ?
« on: April 17, 2010, 21:55 »
I was hoping to plant some peas this weekend but not sure if i am too late ?

I need to dig out the bed first though as its grass right now. Ill be taking the top layer of grass out and digging out most of the weeds..

What do i need to do then ? My dad just said put them in and leave them. I have no idea on spacings though and no idea on needing supports or anything!

can anyone offer a few hints ? Have only had the allotment since December and im very pleased with how much i have growing already.. i just need some more ;)

Well i dug up a bed today... forked it over and planted some peas!

Do i need to put some well rotted manure down or something as they are planted into the mud ?

Is that the chocolate variety, if so I'd love to know where you got your seed from!

been planting at about two week intervals, first ones went in polytunnel in March but first ones into open ground in early April and last ones will go in about mid May. That is my usual timing so would suggest that it is fine for you to get peas in over the next 2 to 3 weeks. Best of luck
