I do have 3 of the small variety type that will have black and ruby red flowers but will never grow big enough for this competition

At the back of this photo - just above my runner beans you will see my best sunflower. I've not measured it but it must be over 6 1/2 feet.  :D

You and I will be both be winners in the beauty competition if the not the tallest!  ;)

I have those multi-flowered many shades of red sunflowers around 4' high - then there's the creamy white Italian ones around a foot shorter and finally the mini-ones no more than 18" tall with large single heads in yellow.

I am looking forward to seeing the whole lot in bloom  :)

Ours is just starting to peek over the 6 foot fence it's standing against - will have to get a pic for you.

That'd be great  ;)

I hope the wind isn't causing problems where you are?
I even needed to stake a few of our fully grown 4' sunflowers today

Mine is down  :(

Awful weather brought it down yesterday - it didn't even get a chance to flower. Going to measure it on the weekend anyway just to see what height it was.

I have another that's not bad but smaller - it was swaying like mad in the gales last night, so I'm not sure how long that one will last either.

It's in a nice sheltered spot betwewn the shed, the fence and the dining room wall so it should be alright - i've got it tied to a 6' cane just to be safe though. Will get a pic on the weekend.

Think after the gales last night that I might be out - my tallest is laying at a 45 degree angle and the smaller ones are right over.  :(

Our tallest is only about 4 feet so far, but it is one which germinated from a seed in the wild bird food! The "proper" sunflowers are still much smaller. When the weather cheers up, I'll take a pic of them against their lovely trellis I got OH to make. :)

The wind blew my bird seed onto the patio so I have sunflowers growing everywhere.  My tallest if about 6' (photo to follow) but I am too late to enter the comp?   I feel a bit of a fraud as the only care they've received is from the dogs weeing on them!
