At this very late stage - might a learner join in please Jamie if it's not too much trouble?

I've no chance of winning but competing is what counts  ;)

Biggest on my site so far

So just how tall are you Sutty1 if that's you in the photo? It'll give us some idea of the competition  ::)

My sunflowers are in my dad's front garden - after last years problems keeping them up-right in high winds - I decided to go for some shorter varieties  Not the best for competitions to see who has the tallest  ::) but they should be pretty

The one in the picture has stoped growing upwards at the mo, the other one from the same seed packet has developed multi heads and is looking a bit sad  :( , the seed from last years plant has stoped growing alltogether at about 18 inchs tall.  ???,

I put my sunflowers next to my poataoe plants as it was the only space left, however the potatoes seemed to have swallowed the sunflowers ::)

I've had the same problem with triffid potatoes swamping my raspberries.... to get the the raspberries it's a case of: "Doctor Livingstone, I presume!" as it's a real jungle!  ::)

Nice to have some youthful enthusiastic help!  :)

My son is 6'3".... my sunflowers are about two-thirds of his height  ::) - serves me right for choosing strains that would stand the late summer winds but still give attractive blooms.

It gives my father something to water & water and water

Well, mines about 5 foot, its just emerged from the top of the potatoe plants, that mistake i did of putting them next to the poatoes has out realy good for me, because the sunflower has gone up looking for light thus making it realy tall,

When i say it was a mistake, i actually did it on purpose because i new this would happen, honest
