I'm glad I photographed mine when I did. The seeds have set fully now, but the petals are fast on the way out!  :nowink:  :)

When people have there final result, which i know some do but some wont have for a while, post the end size of the sunflower with a picture to prove it and ill put the hieght by your name on the first page.

Sorry to be dense Jamie, does that mean you need another pic with a ruler to prove the height, or do you believe me, where I posted the height with the picture and there's no chance my straggly specimen will win anything anyway?

It was aimed more at people who had finished but hadnt posted a photo yet, i will believe you  :)

Do you think i should also have anouther 'class' so to speak, aswell as having the tallest, (which needs a picture proving it), we could have a vote to see the best sunflower using a poll thread?

Yes, I think that would be nice. You get so many colour variations, a vote on people's favourite would be good. :)

mine is no were near this size.....mine is about six feet (or just under)  ::)

Is there a competition section for the tallest with the least leaves?

My father, who looks out of the window at the bird table, found a stray sunflower was in the way so trimmed it..... quite a lot... and still it grows!  ::)

And here it is.... one nearly nude stray sunflower..

I've been watching this thread with interest...it's a great comp. I didn't enter though cos mine is a feeble 6ft compared to everyone elses.....

BUT my nextdoor neighbour planted 3 seeds with her little girl earlier in the year (which I watered while they were away) and one is HUGE!! It's next to my shed and my shed is 8ft high and it's way bigger.....must be at the very least a 10ft sunflower and it's just got it's head, might nip n take a pic. She's dead proud.

What's feeble about 6 feet? Mine is "declared" at only 5 feet!  :tongue2: But then, I'm quite amazed we actually got any to grow here at all!
