Just wondered if anyone had experience of mixing hens with a couple of rabbits please? I have 6 chooks and 2 rabbits and the pen is nearly always empty during the day as they are free to roam as it were, so I have been letting the rabbits go in there for a play and kick about which they love................................is this wrong? (ps, chooks and bunnies all friends and happy to share when chooks jump back in for any reason.)

A chap I got some of my araucanas off had his childrens rabbits living in a run with some of his chickens, they had their own hutch but shared the run space with no problems

I have in the past seen wild rabbits helping themselves to poultry food from the feeder though!

Thank you both for that info', is there any harm in the rabbits eating the chicken corn and pellets on occasion?

I think you just have to watch that they don't share the same coup/hutch otherwise the chickens could poop on the rabbits over night. Not sure if there are any transmittable diseases between rabbits and chickens but I don't think so.

I believe Coccidia can pass between chickens and rabbits in chicken droppings and is more quickly fatal in the later.
