« on: April 16, 2010, 09:15 »
Well my PSB  hasnt shown  :( its been on last chance for couple weeks now.

Should i live in hope longer ? Or dig up ?

I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

No sprouts? It might be a late variety but there should be at least some little sprouts showing in the centre by now I would have thought.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

I had some supposedly summer purple sprouting that sprouted this March. Maybe you've got the packet I was supposed to get! If you think you might fancy it later in the year and you've got space, I'd leave it be and see what it does. It's going to want to flower at some stage, I'd have thought.

I almost gave up on mine but I finally started picking last weekend. Does it look healthy/leafy otherwise?  Is there a tightly formed cluster of leaves at the top of the plant? I would hang on a bit longer if so

Someone on my site commented earlier today that his PSB has been very late in showing.  I'd give it another couple of weeks.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Mine's the same. The plants have grown considerably in the last two weeks. The growing season is considered to be three weeks late. Although I want the space to sow carrots, the PSB has had a stay of execution- Its over £5 a kilo on the market! ???

Be patient - I'm almost certain you should get a crop....

Mine have produced in early March before now but this year last week-end was the first picking - gorgeous taste!!  ;)

We had our first crop last week - As Learner said, gorgeous taste.  :)

Incidently, I haven't seen too much PSB in the supermarkets this year either.

Ours has only just started to show - and its tiny, hasnt really put on any growth and my first concern was it would bolt now its warming up. Similarly ours now has a couple of weeks to prove itself before the space is "liberated"!!

I was thinking this the other day, "A" certain shop has had some but "T" 'other is just selling the tenderstem sort, which I'm not at all keen on. Incidently, in T 'other shop's free mag thet have lots of recipes for psb...odd or what?

Now picking carrier-bags full and it is gorgeous...

Well worth waiting for and all the space it takes up for months on end.

Here's wishing anyone who is still waiting the very best of luck  ;)
