Hi Everyone, I am new to growing my own vegetables & have just made part of my garden, an allotment. Anyway, I have recently planted some vegetable seeds in it, then my children walked all over them. Do I leave & hope for the best or do I turn over & re-seed again ? & how long should it be before there is any sign of growth ?

I have planted Cauli, Broccoli, Cabbage, Lettuce, Carrots, Parsnips & Spinnach.

Cauli was planted about 10 days ago, The rest were planted about 4 days ago.

 Thanks for your help.

It won't do any harm to seeds except to disrupt the drills.  Seedlings would be damaged depending what stage they are at.  Without knowing what you planted and when, it is hard to be more precise.

Is the veggie patch well marked out? And how old are the children?
I have a raised bed in my garden, It is too big to be a 'proper' raised bed (Ie I have to walk on it) but I walk on planks of wood, the main reason I made it like that was so that it was very clear to the children where the veggies were, they have been fine with it, they even take their balls down the other end of the garden to play so as not to squash the veg.
My kids are 2 and 4 and they have no probs with this, especially once there is a visable reason to keep off.

The other thing I did when it was all empty was mark out the drills with lines and sticks, again so the kids could see there was stuff in there, cos they liked digging in the corners so they could see it was planted.

HTH good luck!
