my hens have part of my garden to roam in but even tho there was grass to start off with, there isnt any now! is this ok for them or should they have access to grass?

it's fine, just provide them with some greens - eg a bit of cabbage etc and feed on a good brand of layers and they should be ok

Mine ate all the grass too,  .....they have a good quality layers pellet and things like curly kale etc

The grass soon goes doesn't it!  The other thing that you can do is when you, or someone else you know, cuts the grass, you can put the clippings in for them to rummage around in and peck at.  Mine loved this when we did it last year.

Do be aware that grass starts to break down almost as soon as it's cut. This could make them ill. I wouldn't leave it in for very long at all.
