Thanks Nobby90 - I was pondering on this very issue this morning. I've been given a whole load of seed potatoes but have already assigned the beds to other crops.

Are dwarf French beans a possibility? That's what I was hoping to put in.

It might be easier if you have the beans already growing in pots or modules, but here, in a good year you can sow direct up til the start of July and harvest sept/october.

You would have to water a lot at that time of year though, wouldn't you

I have grown allsorts after my early tatties. But successes have come from late peas (have to be already growing in cells or pots), Pumkin and Squash were very successful.  The best results of all were catch cropping for a couple of months with radish and salad leaves and then planting over wintering onions.  Huge crop of onions.

I used one of my potato beds for PSB & Kale - only problem is the PSB is so late this year, I want to sow my root veggies but can't yet as it's just about peak cropping now! Have squeezed in one row of snips 2 weeks ago, but the rest will have to wait!!

My allotment neighbour puts in sweetcorn every year after the early spuds.
I'm giving it a go this year.

i plan to follow my spuds with brassicas, so as soon as the first early spuds are out winter cabbage will go in. I'll sow them in 2.5 inch peat pots in June, for planting in July.
I hoe, I hoe, it's off to weed I go.
