My chickens arrive on Sunday and there is still a strong smell of onduline in the coop its been over a week since it was painted but I only put the roof on yesterday and as of abot 10 minutes ago it was still very strong. Is this normal and ok for them?

Should have made it clear it's the roofing that's giving of the smell.

That sort of 'oily' smell is  normal and shouldn't be a problem providing that they have sufficient ventilation at night. A few days sunshine and it will go.

I have used an onion cut in half in a room I have painted to get rid of the smell and it does work.  Might be worth a try if you have any time left before they arrive.

I've never noticed our onduline smelling, but most of it was 2nd hand, apart from the sheets Brian bought last month.  But that didn't smell either.

But like lucylou said, shouldn't be a problem as long as your ventilation is okay.  You could always get in touch with onduline, and ask them to make sure?

Thanks for the advice. The smell has gone it was just the cut edge. The girls are here picked them up at 6pm. All 4 are now in bed.

Two goldliness and two Black Rocks. One of the Rocks managed to fly up 5' 6'' and sit on the run fence. I have now clipped all there wings. I have a picture on my phone but don't know how to put it on here.
