Feeding Strawberries ?

Our Strawberries are starting to bear fruit, should I feed them ?only organic suggestions please.

I only grow alpine strawberries so can't advise from first-hand experience. Never known comfrey liquid to do any harm & I'd imagine they'd like the potash.

Thanks WG I'll give them some comfrey tea , they are in pots ,this is the second year, so hoping for a bumper crop , there are lots of small green berries starting to develop, but I've only grown in the ground before these.

I'll give them a feed and then rig up some netting to protect from the birds

the key to feeding strawberries is to feed them after they've cropped or you simply get lots of leaf growth at this time. The nutrient boost needs to already be in the soil for emerging buds to soak up. Comfrey tea should do it, but I'm not too familiar with it. I prefer manure or manure tea which gives the best flavour. Does that sound ironical or not!

Anyway, after cropping, cut down or cut off all the old leaves (ones turning colour) and then feed. And keep plants watered through the summer as this keys the berry sizes you get next year.

Thanks for advice, looks like my helper has a job all summer watering the strawb plants.
