Where does everyone get their enviromesh from? I am spending so long comparing prices that I thought it would  :)

But "cheap" and "enviromesh" can't be used in the same sentence! Mine is very robust, and I reckon will last many seasons

i also got mine from gardening naturally, they were the cheapest i could find and was delivered really fast. i use debris netting for the brassicas but have just bought enviromesh for the carrot bed. it does say it will last up to 10 years so it still works out cheaper than fleece in the long run

Just had a peek at gardening-naturally website and it's still showing a 10% Easter discount off the listed prices.

(Always got by without it up until now but starting to feel left out!)

Gardening Naturally sells set size pieces or by the yard. By the yard works out slightly cheaper and you can get exactly the size to fit your beds. The by the yard only has a seam along each side but not where it is cut. It does not fray easily so it does not matter. Put it into the washing machine on cool at the end of the season and it comes out as good as new.

Their Envirotect fleece is well worth a look. This is made of plastic strips, handles just like fleece but is much stronger. I had it draped over some calabrese and cabbage last year and it just rode on top of the crop and kept the butterflies off. It is currently doing a turn over freshly sown peas and broad beans.

Hi,

I've just bought some enviromesh and used gardening-naturally.com.  I did various price comparisons and for the size I wanted they were the cheapest.  It all turned up the next morning too even though they quote second class post.  I bought enviromesh for my carrots (and onions while they are getting established) and butterfly netting for the brassicas.

I know it's not cheap but I figured that it should all last a few years.

Lotty holder since Aug 09... I've FINALLY finished clearing it! On with the p.lanting  ....

Cool, that just answered my question about using fleece to protect my cabbages instead of enviromesh, I was worried they'd get a smidge to warm. Now I just need to find the cheapest fleece available :D

great, thanks all. So it looks like garden naturally might be the way to go. I only need a small amount as my brassicas were devoured last year (with 'butterfly proof netting'! I'm not taking any chances!

Ive bought a piece from Gardening Naturally yesterday, it came today  :) fantastic service.
Mine was 11m x 2.6m and cost £35 and few pence , i did get 10% of to.
I did shop around and u can buy it for similar price but i would recommend Gardening Naturally as the service was first class.
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

For Butterflys "Debris netting" (as used by scaffolders, and found on eBay) should do the trick, and is cheaper than Enviromesh - but the narrower Enviromesh is needed for Carror / Onion fly.

To keep butterfies out you need holes of 7mm or less and no gaps.

That's a relief.  Mine is 7mm black netting.  Let's see what happens! :)
