growing seed in grow bag compost?

is it any good or is it too rich?

I think that both normal multi-purpose and growbag compost usually state that it contains enough nutrients for about 2 week's growth. This suggests they are a similar formulation but I suspect there would be considerable variation between different brands of each.

(Not sure why you would want to use it though; surely even the "cheapo" growbags are proportionately more expensive than most MP in large bags?)

I've been using some because I ran out of multipurp 

I did sieve it for the finer seeds though.......and it was fine

I have been known to use it as a last resort with no ill effect - but then I have been known to fill old grow bags (the ones cut in half) with multi-purpose.

My rule is that if it doesn't cost too much then it is always worth having a go...some success and some failure, but you always learn something and sometimes it works out better and cheaper than the way you did it before

its just some of the things planted in it never grew yet the same seed planted in seed compost grew no problems? could the growbag compost be at fault?
