WABBITS
« on: April 01, 2010, 22:36 »
i await the onslaught with dread.we were hammered with them last year, and it was so frustrating.
looks like i'm going to go the netting route this year if the problem becomes too bad.i just think the garden looks untidy and controlled with netting all over the place.
what's everyone else got planned for the imminent invasion?.

First year on the new plot -- only had it a matter of weeks.

We have 1m high rabbit fencing all around, dug in about 25 cm. Have bought mesh gurad tubes for the new fruit trees just in case.

and if that fails it'll be out with ths ferrets

Hi, also have a new plot.  We were warned when we got the plot that there was a rabbit and deer threat on our allotments as they are very close to the woods.  To try to combat the problem, we have just erected approx 1m high fencing made out of debris netting supported top and bottom with wire tightly strung between posts.  The bottom 0.5 m (ish) will be buried to try to prevent them burrowing under.  Obviously yet to see how effective it will be but really quite pleased with how it looks and was a lot cheaper than buying chicken wire !
