our chucks free range in the back garden and dig alot. what size sould their claws be and do they need to be cut, or do they self manage the size by scratting and digging.
One light Sussex , two bluebells, two white stars, two speckled stars , two cream legbars.

they should wear down with all the scratching - the only ones that can be a problem are the spurs on the cockerels and some people either remove these or trim them to stop them digging into the girls when treading.

Hi, whenever we get new ex-batts we always trim nails, but chucks that have had a chance to scrat,like Joy say's will be fine ;)
