Sown Cauliflower's seeds in a heated propagator last week. They have now germinated. Do you think i should remove the lid to prevent damping off or just open the lid vents.

Ive taken mine out and there on a table in the conservatory. The next lot of seeds is now basking in the warmth.

Did the instructions on the packet say to sow in heat?  I would have thought not

Brassicas are hardy so don't be too soft with them  :D

Luckily they have very different seed leaves, so you should be able to tell. I'll go take a piccy and be back in a mo ...

Brassica and Sweet Pepper seed leaf pictures. Chilli-peppers have even more pointy seed leaves.

Thanks for the pics Kirsten, there Cauli's.Though i've now removed them from the propagator as they are showing signs off damping off. Might have to start again and just keep them in the coldframe.

Good plan. I'm going to sow some brassicas this weekend and leave them in my cold frame
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

DD always says not to sow brassicas in a propagator, I think he sows them outside.  They don't like heat

I always think of cabbages as coming from up north and so they must be hardy  ;) ;) ;)

I start mine off outside in pots at home, then just transfer them to the plot when they are big enough.  I should start soon shouldnt I?
