My growing area
« on: March 17, 2010, 12:37 »
Just thought you might like to see a picture of my little plot at home. It is 24ft x 10ft, south facing, sandy soil and windy. We have in the area badgers, rabbits, pheasants etc. hence the fencing.

The reward of a thing well done is to have done it....

I also have my plastic greenhouses for seedlings and hopefully toms and maybe peppers later.

This gives me just enough to potter at on the days I can without getting too much if I'm having bad days.

Well, you're not far from me, but I'm still waiting for a plot. Have to make do with a tiny garden and pots and small lean-to greenhouse. Will try to work out pics from last year (don't hold your breath!) :nowink:

Hi Lupin, it is secluded - my step daughter prefers to call it "remote"

We do count ourselves lucky, especially as it is a rented cottage.

This picture shows how remote

But this is the view from the bedroom window last spring - makes it worthwhile.

Really nice place you have, mosslane. My kind of remote  Sadly, my OH is a city person so we compromised on a small town.

Hi Trillium, John is also a city boy. He grew up in Southampton and misses the coast and ships, but after our trips to Eastern Europe we both decided we liked the simple life so opted for this place. John still misses the hustle but he is learning to adapt. He enjoys being outside and believe me there is plenty of outside here :D

Hi Tosca, I do sympathise with you. When we first came back to the UK after our trip, we thought we would end up renting in town and I dreaded the thought. Just so glad we found this place. Our landlords are not the best but we get free reign to do what we want within reason. We are not that far from you by the seems of it, though I don't know Chester  and beyond very well.

Hi Slowgrind, thanks. Got my garlic looking good and my onions and shallots are under the plastic sheets. I have broad beans, herbs, leeks and parsnips in the small greenhouse and some early salad in the larger one. Facing south with the wall behind they get nicely warm so I am hoping for toms later. Oh and the 2 bags you can see have my earlies in which are just popping up but they get covered each night just incase.
