Hi

Can I plant something inbetween these wild strawberries (I think thats what they are!) ?

Any suggestions as to what?

Shallot / onion / leeks / garlic are the recommended companion plants for strawberries.  Your plants don't look like wild strawberries though they are just normal ones I think.

I've read that strawbs and peas companion plant well so I've got strawbs between my wig-wams  :D

Can anyone explain exactly why garlic/leeks etc are good companion plants? Do they help the strawberries in some way?

Just Googled and found a site saying that Strawberry companions are Broad Beans, Lettuce, Onion and Spinach. Incompatable with Cabbage.

I might try planting lettuce among mine.

Thank you. I will stay with the onion family as they provide minimal competition for light.

Allium family compatible with roses as the sulphur in the plants is supposed to help protect roses from blackspot.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
