Peat pellets - silly question
« on: March 13, 2010, 17:48 »
Forgive me, I can't work it out...

The expanding peat pellets - just add water and seed - do I put them in a pot of water and wait for them to expand before i put the seed in, or do i put the seed in the middle part, water and wait??

How long does it take for them to spring up ?

Thanks, and sorry for being silly.

Add water, wait, put seed in ;)

No idea how long they take, but they get several times larger ;)

I stopped using them when I found the biodegradable mesh didn't degrade and my poor pepper plants roots were confined to a 1inch pot !  (They were Suttons pellets)

Oh dear, maybe I'm doing something wrong .... they've been in water for 10 minutes, and they've expanded a LITTLE.

You probably just need to soak them in more water. It's surprising how much water they can absorb!
