Theilim Asparagus Crowns????

Ive bought 6 Thielim Asparagus crowns because 6 fit lovely into one of my raised beds. I thought 8 was a bit of a squeze.

My kids dont like the stuff so what i would like to know is 6 crowns enough to have a nice meal for 2??

Can some one tell me what could be eating my Asparagus? 

Only one end  has gone about half inch from the top, so hopefully something just having a taste and gone away.

But hope it doesn't happen again , or do i need to defend them?
