I may put a row of earlies in this weekend and delay the other row for a week or so. Mains will go in at the end of the month.

mine have been in 2 weeks under fleece and the maincrops went in this weekend, again under fleece.

However i grow my potatoes the farming way - ie planted directly into ridges which have been warming up for several weeks.
its nice to be important, but it more important to be nice......

Mine are going in tomorrow morning. The weather here for Friday is lots of rain, so the ground might be a tad wet for planting anything on the weekend then we on our hols. Also some of my seed spuds are looking a bit prune like as they use their reserves to make shoots.

Who started this nonsense idea that Easter has anything to do with planting times - it varies by a month if you haven't noticed!

That's my thinking too ... but Easter varieties with the Moon, and there is lots of folklore about planting with Moon cycles ... so the two may be related. Its why the weather is always perfect at Easter :D

I don't think it was suggested that you should plant spuds at Easter, more like Easter may be an ideal time this year, what with the late spring and the dates it falls on giving many people extra time to work on their allotments.

Touch wood my 1st and 2nd earlies will go in this weekend and mains next weekend under cloches if reqd
I hoe, I hoe, it's off to weed I go.

I planted mine around about this time last year, which was before anyone else on my allotments by a couple of weeks, but they worked out okay. This year it seems to me that the spring has come about a month later than it did last year so I may wait till the end of March. I'll see if this week's weather holds. I saw a few honey bees yesterday so I am hopeful!
