Wounds

My cockerel walked down the drive to come to live with us - he is a large bid with almighty spurs - he is also very hard to catch and gets very stressed when we cut bits off the end of his spurs - not sure if these can be removed or cut right back, don't want to cause him unnecessary pain - the reason for asking is he is rather a lad!!!! and when he jumps on my little hybrids he has cut them open under their wings with his spurs, I have been using highly salted water on these wounds which also helps keep the chickens from pecking themselves and upping their poultry spice - any other ideas, have seen wound powder on another site but not sure if this is suitable for chickens - Thanks

Hi - thanks went and looked at lead you gave me - does anyone know if it hurts when the spurs are about 1.5 inches long when removing? I only ask because when he is clipped slightly the spur does bleed and he looks a bit like we would if we cut our nail to the quick.
