Hi all

Do you give Flubenvet to prevent worms?  I see on here that people give it to their chucks when they see worms in the poo!  Is this right or do you give it as a preventative??  I understand that you give it over 7 days but how often? 

ps  me & me chucks lovin the sunshine today in Spalding!

HI Nickchick...well if I were you I would give it to them before you see them ...see my  postings 'Yuk.... '  it was just luck that I happened to see the worm to realise they must have them ...not noticed any signs before.  Hopefully it's been caught early ...they all look quite healthy birds.

I worm two or three times a year as a precaution ... flub doesn't act as a preventative as there is no residual effect. But if hens are kept on the same ground for any length of time, there can be a build up of worms in the soil.

Putting apple cider vinegar (equine quality) in their water may help prevent the hens getting worms in the first place.

HI, i worm 3-4 times a year as the are kept on the same piece of land. I worm with flubenvet mixed into their pellets and i keep them in their in runs to ensure they have no access to other foods during this time. They go mad!!!! but in my opinion, its for 7 days, it wont kill th but worms can. It also gives me a chance to give the groud they are on a really good clean up and disinfect with stalostan F
