Had two tons of sh..... erm, manure delivered and shovelled it into the manure bin.
Feeling a bit cream crackered now as I settle down to a pint of home brewed yorkshire bitter.  :)

 Today I cut five of my prize winning Gladioli, just coming into bloom and in for a battering from the wind and rain expected over the next few days. Happy because I had  only last weekend won second prize in the Gladoli class, not bad for a Newbie allotment holder. The Dahlia beds are admired by all, curtosy of Unwins seeds, must say I am well impressed by the profusion of blooms, planted purely for the bees, who are suffering badly now. Wish bee keeping could be allowed on our allotments, but will keep on growing flowers both at home and on the allotment, hopefully to help.

That's good going - I must put in more peas next year - lack of rain and time to water did not help this year but worth the effort... great crops earlier on.

Had to be a flying visit yesterday to water inside the polytunnel.  Not liking the shorter days already, as I'm overwhelmed at work and not getting the time on the allotment I want.  My tomatoes are all ripening beautifully inside the tunnel (and outside, so thank goodness I picked some early for my green tomato chutney) and they're gorgeously sweet.  I piced a few radishes and carrots for dinner and then had to get back to work.  Hope to get a lot done this weekend.  I get withdrawal if I have to miss too many days!

I went up earlier and cut the last iron bark pumpkin, it wasn't huge but wasn't getting any bigger :( So I've brought it home to ripen and the skin is already hard, like it's name says it will be :)

I dug a piece of rough ground over near the hedge, it was fairly hard going. I managed to dig/weed a bit about 6 x 4ft before it started raining again!
