Spwed some more carrots and potted up some strawberrie runners, did a bit of weeding and watering.

DD - I had a look at my courgette plant today and it has opend up about 5 more flowers, none with a courgette behind them. is this still ok?

Don't panic, a lot of the first flowers are males, just leave them be.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

DD's right.... don't spend so much time looking at them...(they're shy!)....   come back in a week or two with a sharp knife and cut your first courgette  ;)

Managed to get 150 litres of water to the allotment today. Pleased with that. After that I just sat there and admired the view for half an hour.  :) :)

1 litre weighs in at 1kg and takes up a 1dm cubed space... so that 150 litres was quite hard work - I bet    ::)

So nice to have cooler less humid weather - my MS is complaining less  :tongue2:  So I lifted the last of my broad bean plants. Loads of beans so looks like I will be freezing them tonight.

Lots of weeding. Scraped out irrigation channels for the shower water to run into from the irrigator john has set up for me.

Sowed some late peas as a trial.

Lifted one garlic to see if they are ready - looks very good so that looks like a job for the next dry day.

Now it is time to sit and enjoy the nice tidy plot with a cuppa.
The reward of a thing well done is to have done it....

What I did was chased a pesky rabbit out, and then put a heavy thick paving slab under the gate where the little so and so had dug it's way in -- soil softer now it has rained.

Hi - Went on a reccy after the great flood last night (stair rods) and was pleasantly surprised. Courgettes are practically standing up on end (!) to give thanks for the rain. Bizarre sight! Harvested blackcurrants and made 3lb jam. Picked a lettuce for lunch and checked potatoes - still waiting to lift the newies, all very late this year.
Sat on the bench under tha apple tree, next to sweet peas and and surveyed my kingdom with a smile.

Went over to the allotment to survey the damage the wind might have done over night I lost a broccoli which has broken off so that one can go on to the compost bin and I lost a sprout but over all the damage was not too bad I was a little bit worried about my home made cabbage cages but they were still standing as well.
Over all didn't need to worry too much. It is nice not having to water but now the weeds are really happy and they are showing it.
