Picked our first peas and ate them on the lottie - yummy.  Dug up our first potatoes - 29lbs of Pentland Javelin. That's less than 1lb per seed potato - is that the norm?

been eating courgettes for  few weeks, getting sick already :(.  harvested garlic and shallots,  so dry they had given up.  about 30% garlic soft and/or mildew. wonder if one of the planted cloves was an off one?   picked a little swiss chard leaf.

pulled the red bordeaux spinach which has bolted.

planted some aubergines, cherry toms and celery in final postitions.. planted on last of the pumpkins and courgettes if nothing esle just to get them away.

weeded and watered.

Hi there, could you tell me if there is no chance the spinach will come back after it has bolted?  Mine did the same so cut all the tops out hoping it will come back ???
Also could you also tell me if your aubergines are inside or outside.  I have some in the greenhouse but (my fault) as usual I planted too many and don't know where to put them all now so was thinking about finding a sunny sheltered area outside in large pots and see????
.

(edited to show quote correctly)
Well I have decided to lift them tonight, they looked like they had had it to be honest, what a shame they were so yummy. Oh well, already planning what to put in the gap already.  Lots of chard luckily to have instead

Dug up two rows of FE's. Planted out the melons. Picked a load of Jostaberries, last of the strawberries and a few ripe Wocesterberries. Watered, weeded then went home kn***ered

I said hello to everyone arriving as I was leaving at 8 this morning.

Early waterer gets the stand-pipe first and brilliant water pressure!  ;)

Weeded

Weeeded

WEEEEEEDDDEEEEDDDD!!

Spuds are sulking, cat's rolled on the shallots, onions have been pulled out by pigeons, something 'big' has eaten the fennel and the rabbits have had most of the peas.
On the good side, I've got loads of melons, squashes, tom's, oca, aubergines and achocha going mad in the greenhouses.
Picked the last of the strawbs, had a feel of the BB's, not quite ready, ditto for the goosegogs, roll on about another week, we shall  get something to eat!

Wife is making a corgette loaf today, a sure sign we are getting a bit bored of them already - only have two plants as well this year.  Watered last night and continued my war on Aspargus beetle and their ugly little grubs.

Had first autum rasps, very good and also first ripe red toms, Red Alet, good without being great, looking forward to the ones in the poly tunnell.

Think spuds are ready but not pulled up yet.

plot needs a weed.

  • one bucket of spuds dug and shared - orders for more! :)
  • one tub of raspberries already eaten  :)
  • courgettes coming along nicely but only a few so far and no yellow variety yet
  • not a single ripe tomato yet desite 4 greenhouses full and two plants on the plot so you're beating me there!  ;)

Went down to lottie at 7.30am to water plot.  After 12 watering cans worth, it started to rain.  Can you believe it?  So picked some broad beans and more spinach.

Rain! Luck devil... I think down here we would all rush out and celebrate in it.

Gradually beginning to hallucinate - thought I heard some falling on the conservatory roof the other evening - No such luck.  :(
