OH finished our 2nd compost heap yesterday so I was able to recycle the plastic ones we inherited to new plot holder next door and tidy up that end of the plot.

Weeded, weeded, weeded.  Watered, watered, watered BUT.....

...  then picked sugar snap peas [my daughter ate them all before we got home]; 3 strawberries [ :nowink: must try harder next year]; radish and beetroot for tea - yummy; 2lb redcurrants [currently draining in the kitchen having been boiled for jelly] and the first of our lovely carrots - best we've ever tasted but had to share the 1 carrot between 4 of us.

Starting to get really excited as so many plants have formed tiny fruits and after months of cold and mud we might get a meal out of the plot yet!!! yippee!!!

Even if we don't I have found the best stress relief ever!!! :)

Planted some butternut, dwarf french, climbing french and runner beans. O/h is most upset that I have started planting the second bed before he has had time to finish it!  :tongue2:

Was far too hot today!

Got to the allotment around 11 and planted out some leeks and 2 pumpkin plants.. Moved a massive gherkin plant from the garden but no where to plant it till some potatos come up!

Was happy to be mixing my own made compost into the soil.. first time ever and it looked good!

Then went home and had beer and watched football.. bit dissapointing lol

  • Planted 12 pinks for for flowers,
  • Planted last of the runner beans (white flowering variety = butterbeans when the runners get too big),
  • Sowed 2 types of wallflower seeds
  • weeded and watered
  • dug new potatoes
  • picked spinach and cut a lettuce

And made a coffee  ;)

Yesterday, picked some courgettes, plants are producing well now. Picked more strawberries. Jostaberries are just turning so some of those picked, a few gooseberries as well. Scared off a blackbird who was eyeing up the cherries.  Watered and fed everything then home to eat the fruits of our labour :D   (Couldn't get on the computer yesterday OH doing reports for work)

Yesterday - first chance I'd got to get there in almost a week!

Checked the flowers - have a pansy, lobelia are up and one of the black sunflowers is about to flower.
Fed and watered some very wilting tomatoes, checked everything else - daisy/poppy field looks good, onions in it are bolting  >:(
Sweetcorn looks good, courgettes are taking over the world and we got given pumpkin plants as someone wants some for halloween - so many of them we're planting them where we can!
Raspberries, peppers and chillis flowering, couple of green tomatoes showing, caulis being slowly munched.
2 courgettes ready in next two days. Picked some peas, dug up some first earlies though they were a bit small - will leave for a week or two - pulled a few smallish carrots, pulled the radishes and all the garlic, as well as some of the onions - had to chuck a couple away as they had rot...
We were at the allotment till it got dark so at 11pm, I had fresh new potatoes and peas cooked in mint, and purple and orange carrots, with a small knob of butter - lovely!!!!

watered, weeded, thinned out swede and turnips, pulled up a few beetroot for my Dad  :) gave some of the beds a feed and generally pottered about.
I must do myself lists before I go because I start one thing then get distracted to another job
I came I saw I grew my own veg
