I managed to finish the 3rd && the final prep of the last 2 dahlia beds ... then watched my mate starting the "I now have 500++ stakes to knock in!" challenge .... bet he's rueing the day he said "you can't knock stakes in worth s**t, leave them to me!" :D

Got a phone call off my dad asking if I wanted some free turf (I'm in the middle of re-doing my back garden ... all 3x5m of it) so ended up slapping in a new lawn before I could crack a beer and enjoy my birthday.

All in all it was a good day and tomorrow we should be ready to plant up the main greenhouse, which is always a happy day, the plants will bounce on now ;)

potted up , potted on, pricked out, earthed up, tied in, nipped out, weeded, sprayed, fed, watered, composted, netted and drunk coffee

Reminds me of:

"lip smacking, thirst quenching, ace tasting, motivating, good buzzing, cool talking, high walking, fast living, ever giving, cool fizzing, P***i".
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

You forgot "tooth-rotting" DD!  ;)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

went and had a look and pea germination is very poor...only about 25%.
Few more days and if it's still the same I'll have to get some more seed........haven't seen a slug. I wonder if the birds found them? They are growing through lovely on thenext lottie as they did at home....strange

Tbh you should be able to leave the attack. Plants will grow on perfectly from it.

Yeah, I tried telling the dahlias that, but they just refuse to listen to *my* timetable ;)

happy birthday yabba :)

Thanks :D

Managed to crawl to the field at 8:30 this morning ... wish I hadn't (sorta), because I spent the next 10 hours (without a break, even fags were smoked on the fly) planting up, and feeding.

Good news is :

Finished planting borlottis(sp), runners, sweetcorn. Watered everything. Then took my shirt off and started on the dahlias.

planted :

Sir Alf, Bryn turfell, Trelyn, Mary's jomander ... got telephoned by dentist, who cancelled my appointment ( for the 3rd time :-S ) ... so had no excuse for an early day and carried on to plant suzanne, winholme, salmon  (new one), challenger, valentine & marsden lilac. Had to feed/water most of it as well ... first time we've ever fed them on planting, weird year all round.

Looooooooooooooooooooooooooong day, 10 hours with zero breaks .... I so wish I was a winter baby and could suffer a hangover in peace

note : before anyone comes in with hangover cures that have been banned by those ever helpful europeans, I'm one of those lucky bu**ers that doesn't get them ;)

I'd give an arm and a leg for a decent masseur that could take the knots out of my neck  though.

All in all, it's been a good day, we're mostly planted up and from here on in it's all "bimble round and water" ;)
