spent an hour or so earthing up (or trying to) the potatos and an hour or so weeding and watering.. then it started pouring so turned the compost heap over and made a quick retreat!

repotted the tomatos at home and fed the leeks, chillies and gherkins..  Surrounded the remaining pumpkin with silver foil and hoped keeping it in the bedroom will help!

potted on my toms in the plastic greenhouse, sowed more courgettes, pumpkin & cucumber (frost argh! >:( ) on the windowsill & potted a lovely hanging basket that will eventually hang from my allotment shed.

went round all the DIY shops looking for some of that blue water piping for my brassicas only to find they were all sold out... everyone must have the same idea as me?!

went to the plot and had to get the glysophate out on the weeds in the back corner... they are really getting me down... silly ground elder :(

and generally pottered about watering & admiring the things that are actually growing well on my new plot... the rhubarb is HUGE!
:)

Filled in the holes in my spud beds dug by that b'@@dy fox...............again. Bless him.
Put my paperpot grown sweetcorn out to start hardening off in my little plastic greenhouse at home, and sprouted a second batch just in case. Sowed beetroot, radish, lettuce, more carrots. Forgot to pull rhubarb for crumble tonight..............! Dhoh!
No probs.................already got about five pounds of it in the freezer. :)

What is it with foxes?
Now "we" are not chasing them across the country-side they seem to think we are all mates

Last year I had several plants flattened by cubs pouncing about across my plot and now they have dug themselves a nice home on the edge of my compost heap with front-door and patio near my pile of timber, stakes and planks!

Added to the uninvited squatting they have also ripped their way into a 3m long cloche protecting some early lettuce.  >:(

I am not too fond of the little Bs... although someone pointed out that they are likely to keep the rat and slug population down.

I think I am going to add running water to their new abode by sticking a hose pipe down the entrance hole.
I really am not keen on them moving in!  :tongue2:

Awwwww.............! Leave them alone, you big bully.
They've got cubs to feed. Just throw a few extra seeds in. It's worth it to keep the slugs down.

I finally got my polytunnel up and it really is cheap and nasty! The cover didn't even fit the stupid frame so I've had to make it a wee bit smaller than it should be, wish I could afford a proper one.  :(
Any way this one is going to be full to bursting soon as everything is growing so fast and my window sills need to be reclaimed. I'll move the plants in tomorrow.

If only............! My local authority will not allow livestock on any of it's allottments, otherwise I would be keeping ex-battery chucks. Double fenced with a couple of border collies between the two outer fences! :)

Too true. Floodlights as well. :)
Don't think the locals would be too impressed though!

Tried to continue clearing Plot 20 but the ground is so so dry :( :( Could do with some rain to ease digging. The soil is akin to concrete...............................
