Planted out a long section of peas grown in paper-pots.... they look lovely  ;)

Stuck in more lettuce and watered here and there. Could do with a drop of the wet stuff.

Looked and felt sad for those who had planted out their beans - and lost them to frost.
Dashed to check my potatoes when I saw the brown, burnt tops pf my neighbours spuds.  :(

Mine, covered in grass the other evening, look fine  ;)

Yesterday, came home from work and with help of husband & son put beans in pots, runners- wisley magic & scarlett emperor, french - sultana. Weeded the onions and strawberries and I'm still trying to find a spot to put my gooseberry, must put that in this weekend. The cabbages, caulies & brussells I put in last weekend all look a bit sad but it has been cold this week. Hopefully they will perk up when the sun shines.

The pumpkin seeds my son & I put in pots in the greenhouse a couple of weeks ago have germinated, it is so exciting to see these huge leaves suddenly appear, I have no idea where they are going to go on my plot yet but I shall make space.

Tomatoes are growing well in the green house but chillis are looking sad, again due to the cold dull weather I think.  Most things are growing ok, the strawberries in my cold frame are coming along nicely as are my lollo rosso lettuces, I sowed too many lollo rosso, I have lots of them now but I cannot bear to throw away those lovely little seedlings that have been brave enough to germinate. Mad I know but I can't help it.

Hoed potatoes, some looking a little sad after the frost. OH cut the grasss and chopped up some of the branches we pruned off earlier this year, (we kept forgeting the lopers).
Watered everything as despite the forecast have had only a few spots of rain and had a general tidy of the plot. Then off home to do some potting up :D

Cut some blue pipe to support netting t keep carrot fly out

Sowed maincrop carrots, lots of different beetroot and hamburgh parsley

Split up some supermarket-bought chives into tiny clumps

Spent most of the day driving off to Newmarket to get some free bricks.  The new guy in the next plot was there when I arrived to pick up my wheelbarrow and he was still there when I got back with the bricks seven hours later after a nice day of shopping and a leisurely lunch.  It's nice to be next to an enthusiast for a change, not someone I never see from month to month and whose main crop seems to be thistles and dandelions.

In gardening news, planted out some lettuce, harvested yet more purple sprouting, planted out a few peas from the cold frame (not sure why I have such a poor germination rate, maybe it's been too cold), tidied up a few edges, watered, weeded and fed the birdies.  Wondering whether it's worth digging up some of my garlic now so I can experience the magic of the 'green garlic' the foodies always seem to be on about.  Hoping the courgettes buck up soon, they seem decidedly slothful.  I might scrap this lot and replace with the ones in the cold frame if they don't show a bit of action this week.
