Had a really good tidy up, planted my last lot of parsnips from the greenhouse. Finished off my little protection area to store my seedlings whilst we are away (plastic sheet in a trench with plant pots stood in it and covered by a thick net cloche), hopefully any rain will water the seedlings and collect in the trench to keep the bottom of the pots damp.

Will miss the plot and this forum whilst we are away :(
The reward of a thing well done is to have done it....

see you soon mosslane have fun :)went the plot and have noticed onions have shot up and maincrop spuds are just peeping through,  broad beans are showing and i am a little worried that the mice may have nicked my peas.
the good news is that the waterboard were outside connecting our water up, its about time i am sick of filling up my water drum to take with me several times a day.
when im with my 9yr old she's the sensible one

I planted some raspberries kindly given by my neighbour.  Planted some swiss chard (again a freebie!) and sowed some spring onions and spinach - truly fed up with paying for salad in the supermarkets!

'found' that the gooseberry bush had managed to make a baby bush all by itself :)
One of the lower branches had rooted, so I cut it off and potted it up  8)

Potted on some chillies to final size pots and some of them already have flowers  :D
Did a bit of weeding and chilling with a stubbie or 2

Slow morning but very busy evening.

Potted five more sweet corn.

Planted two rows of Peas, One row of White Turnip, one row of Parsnip, one row of Swede, five more Mangetout in the progressive plot, and a row of Yellow Bok Choi in my experimental section.

Aired Courgettes then back under the tunnel cloches they go. Light watering to potatoes, cauliflower and cabbage.

Its dry here...rather amazing to be saying that about Cumbria :)

Jamie Butterworth:

Isn't it wonderful when we make those gains in having a tidy garden. It makes such a difference in how I feel when I step into my kitchen garden. Productive can still be pretty :)
