Did a bit of weeding before the rain came pelting down. Am starting to get a long way behind due to the weather. :( The ground is way too wet for anything. Even stepping on the paths leaves me with great clods of mud on my feet.

I dug one of my beds, weeded it, and put in 30 broad bean plants which I raised at home in paper pots.  :)

After a lovely few days of weather, this morning my Hubby painted the wood on our old greenhouse in the hope that it will last a bit longer.  Then the lovely weather broke and it started to rain. :tongue2:

It stopped so I planted out peas under fleece - a bit too early possibly for the frozen north but I can always replant.  I then took shelter from the rain again and and planted some french beans and runner beans in pots while I watched my neighbour set fire to his old shed.

I got really excited as one of my first earlies has shown though after 3 weeks in the ground and my asparagus had a little shoot

Can home muddy but happy.

Today I started to rake the veggie patch ready for the spuds to go in on Tuesday.

I also dug a mini patch for my children to plant their seedlings in. They've got cabbage, broccolli, cauliflower and sunflowers growing. We remembered to putting the netting on so the birds don't eat them.

I was finally given my key so I can dig when I like  :)
I was also given 1lb of red onions to plant, and a wheelbarrow  ::)

Was an absolutely gorgeous day down south :) Think i may have burnt my back (cant reach with the sun cream) but my face is lovely and brown :)

Got a lot done to make up for missing yesterday! Planted the last 3 rows of potatos, Put some cauliflowers in, sowed more carrots and some iceberg lettuce and dug a bed and sowed some peas.. Was soaked in sweat but all good fun :)

Weeding, then a little weeding, then looked hopefully at all my seedlings before reminding myself to leave it a while yet before planting them out.

so I weeded a bit more.

dog is in disgrace. He was under the impression that he is a chicken dog and rounded up all next doors free range chooks back into the hen house.

Still makes a change from his usual lethargy:

pulled some rhubarb - mmm, crumble tonight!
Borrowed a friend's petrol strimmer and cleared the wasteland at the back of the plot. Found a whole heap of metal piping and glass that had been hidden by the couch grass. Good job I had gloves on!
Saw first few leaves of FE's peeping through, so earthed them up a bit more.

Then sat eating a bag of chips, dipping them into a curry sauce........did I mention the fish n chips shop and 3 pubs just outside the gate of the site?   Lovely.
small, Welsh and almost certainly bonkers, but can be tamed with Talisker, if required

I put in some runner beans, yes I am aware how early I am, but I want to risk it, I only did one frame and we do have several more, just wanted to try some early ones.

Also looked at all the bits to see what developments have happened, broad beans doing well so far, fingers crossed have lost the last three lots to a serious case of chocolate spot.

First two beds of spuds showing through hoorah

Two little asparagus peeping their heads out.

carrots still waiting.  ???

Did you choose to ignore all the advice given previously about the risks you pose to your own crops and all those around you by buying uncertified and unprepared spuds from the supermarket, then Monsta?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
