I finished off planting onion sets, weeded around the strawberries and rhubarb and lugged 3 bags of manure from my car to the plot in the hope that it will do some good!

Dug over an area for my Comfrey plants that will arrive soon. Watered the lettuce ( 6 leaf stage now)in the polytunnel along with the Canna plants that i rescued from council gardens. Took some purple sprouting broccoli home for tea tonight. Thought about taking some pix of my flower garden which look very nice now that the daffs and polys and pansies are out. I'll do that nxt time the sun appears i think. Took my rooting powder home to start more dahlia cuttings. The OH is starting to get the hump with stuff all around the house now but i bet i'm not alone there!

Went to the plot at 7 am and stayed all day, erected a fence on 2 sides of the plot, that`s 70foot of fence, (recycled stuff) with my brother doing most of the work and me helping, in between doing that I made a cold frame and planted some parsnips in paper pot in the poly tunnel.  :D

Checked out a site for some globe artichoke plants I was given yesterday. The ground is a bit clayey, but the spot is sheltered from the worst of the wind and gets lots of sunshine during the day. Not looking forward to breaking the soil up, however. Will have to get on the case tomorrow...

No you're not alone Kingston boy.  OH is moaning that the reason we have an allotment is so we can see out of our windows.

It is actually obligatory that OH's of allotment holders are grumpy most of the time. I have found there is less grump factor now OH is involved more in the lottie, but it is embedded in him. Cut him open, and "GRUMP" will be printed through the middle! :D Bless!

OK, so the windowsills are currently messy and full - but not much longer now - most stuff is now in the greenhouse.....
small, Welsh and almost certainly bonkers, but can be tamed with Talisker, if required

Done the dahlia cuttings and used some kelloggs cereal liners as covers for propagators  They appear to give good dappled light and grow well in my little greenie thing that zips up. Checked on how many gosgog cutting are actually showing leaf now. All 8 are!Reason for so many is a hedge of them to deter the animals coming through a gap i have. A type of productive pyracanta if you like with fruit. It wont stop the fox tho just the football animals chasing their ball.OUCH!!!!!

I sowed some more sprouts and checked on everything else, there all doing great but nothing from the tomatoes as of yet, sweet peas are looking good but i did notice something that looked like cotton wool on the outside of the toilet tubes that im growing them in, anyone know what it is and if i should be worried.

It's a mould growth Jamie which seems to happen more with toilet-roll tubes than paper pots (probably because of the glue used to stick them together.)

Doesn't seem to cause any problems, but don't keep them more than just damp if you can help it.  :)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!
