Well that's Harlow for you  ::)

(I grew up just across the border in Herts, and had my appendix out in Harlow hospital many years ago, so know it well  ;) :tongue2: )

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Belted home from parents place asp... late as usual (9 to 2 today) and then....

  • said hello to Mrs Learner as we see so little of each other
  • had lunch
  • then a coffee
  • checked and replied to email
  • wrote a letter
  • watered the greenhouse and trays of bedding plants
  • went back to my parents place and closed-up the greenhouse - watered too

Eventually made it to the plot: hoed and watered...

Noticed someone removing chicken-wire, tools and wheelbarrow from a vacant plot and sticking the lot on his plot  >:(
Then decided he must have taken on another plot (or half). Hope so... would hate to think we have someone on the plot that needs a careful eye  keeping on him!

Was up & out at 5.30am, I couldnt sleep so walked the dog then went down the lottie & put in 56 sweetcorn plants (invincible f1) in a grid 7x8 with 18 inches between plants. Watered everything, did a bit of hoe'ing then went to the shops for milk & teabags. walked home & everyone else is still in bed so I am now twiddling my thumbs.

I realy want to start work on one of my motorbikes but its a bit early & it is sunday so will have to just sit here.

I generaly just stick things in the ground green side up.

Yay, it's summer!  8)  It was almost too hot to work during the day, hope it lasts the week!  Got some more edging done, weeded, sowed french beans, peas, another patch of broad beans and even some soyabeans.  Planted out my tomatoes, first time I've tried them outside so will be interesting to see how they do.  Sweetcorn celery and lettuces to plant out today, will probably harvest the last of the PSB, freeze it and dig the bed over.

Sadly not it appears.

Our forecast temps for the next 5 days, starting today are: 26C, 23C, 17C, 14C, 14C. Better for working in though.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Lordy me, I am quite cream crackered after a good full day on the plot.    Edged one whole side of the plot, planted out celery, lettuce, celeriac, sweetcorn, cleared some of the long grass (got to get myself a petrol strimmer) weeded, watered, fed the birdies (some of them can barely waddle they are getting so fat) and harvested the last of the purple sprouting. Phew...
